VENICE
This is a very evocative scene from my visit to this magical city a few years ago. Light and colour are the main areas of study here. The skies for scenes like this are many and varied so I will encourage you to use some licence and imagination. The distraction of the railings in the foreground can be easily ignored.
I would like students to bring TWO panels or canvases: one for the main painting but also a small panel about 7×5 inch to use as a colour plan or preliminary study. By doing this you will be able to plan the colours to use for the main picture and have an idea of what the finished piece will look like. Colours need to be clean and fresh for this to work well.
COLOURS: Cobalt or cerulean blue. Cadmium red. Cadmium yellow light. Rose or crimson. Titanium white.
